A flyer is attached, but here are even more details:
What
are the Club Champs?
Each year NSLSC conducts its club
championships. This is an opportunity for all club members to race in a
more relaxed atmosphere than most meets. Club age champions are
determined by the total number of points gained in selected sprint and
distance events.
Awards
will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
getters for each age group at a presentation night, which will be 28 April 2012. There are a number of categories:
· Age based for boys and girls
· New swimmers (who have been with the club less than one year)
· Most improved swimmer over the past year
· Individual medley
Events
will be run as open events. This means swimmers will be placed into
heats by entry time not by age. In general younger swimmers will have
slower entry times than older swimmer’s entry times.
When and where is it?
Northcote Pool Victoria Rd, Northcote
Sunday 18th March at 8.00am for pool entry and warm-up. The meet starts at 9:00am
Put it in your diaries! Be punctual!
Who should enter?
All
NSLSC swimmers are invited and encouraged to enter. We have well over a
hundred swimmers – let’s see if everyone can come! New members are
welcome to make this their first swim meet.
Swimmers who are
registered as ‘non-competitors’ are still eligible. Have a go! Swim
with your training mates. Parents may also compete!
How is age set?
For
Club Championship purposes, the age of swimmers is set as at 30 April
2012, even though the meet is being run on the 18th March.
What does it cost?
We are not charging an entry fee. It's free!
What do the swimmers need?
- NSLSC meet swim cap (or training cap) and racing goggles
- Swim suit
- NSLSC polo/t-shirt (if already have one)
- 2 towels
- Water bottle and sensible snacks.
I need a club cap and/or uniform
Please talk to Ruth Gilder (email ntc.swimming@gmail.com) if you need her to order club items for you. There will be some items for sale on the day.

Depending on entry numbers we may merge some distance events, i.e. a 100m backstroker may swim alongside a 100m butterflyer.
Swimmers aged 8 years or under?
All
younger swimmers encouraged to swim both Free 50m and Back 50m. Talk to
coaches about suitability for Breast or Fly 50m events, however no
entry to distance events accepted.
Swimmers aged 9 – 10 years?
Swimmers
encouraged to select at least 2 strokes, but consider swimming all four
50m events. You may enter up to two 100m events but check suitability
with coaches.
Swimmers aged 11 years and over?
Swimmers
encouraged to select at least 2 strokes, but consider swimming all four
50m events. You may enter a number of distance events but be selective.
It is suggested no more than 3 distance events (including IM) per
swimmer. Check suitability with coaches.
Simon has final say on swimmer eligibility for distance events.
Individual Medley Event
Swimmers
(10/over) interested in an individual medley may choose to enter the 4 x
50m IM. You must have coach’s permission and Simon may set a minimum
cap colour or entry time for this event.
There
is also a 4 x 100m IM and there is an award category for this event by itself. Once
again, you must have your coach’s permission to enter this event. There is an award category for this event by itself. What else is important?
We
need a team of parent, grand-parent, big brother and sister helpers on
the morning. Please volunteer to assist with any of the tasks you feel
able to. The more assistants we have, the more we can rotate and have a
break to watch our swimmers.
Key roles to be filled:
- Marshals
- Time-keeper coordinator
- Time-keepers: minimum 24. Extras for rotation would be excellent
- Results runners: post results as they are printed
Indicate your preferences when you email entries in.
Refreshments
The pool café will be open for refreshments. Please bring water, snacks etc. as required.
Championship Points
Points
are allocated to swimmers based on their position in events relative to
