Swimming Update - 20 Feb 2012

posted 20 Feb 2012 02:53 by ntc meets   [ updated 20 Feb 2012 02:53 ]

Hi all

A few items to note:

1. Metro North All Juniors Eliminations - 18 Feb
As you will know, there were some technical issues on the day. Preliminary results are available but Metro North are checking all results as there were some errors in the initial file. I will send it out when available. Please note that top ten finishers in each event are selected to swim in the semi-finals at MSAC Indoor Pool on 31 March. Details to follow, but warm up is 8am and meet starts 9am. Further information on the Swimming Victoria website:
http://210.247.205.118/assets/console/document/documents/AllJuniorMetroEvent%20InfoFINAL.pdf

They have also advised that badges for top ten finishers will be available at the encouragement meet, 25 Feb. We will collect them for our club members and can hand them out on the night or at training if you are not there.

2. Metro North 10/U Encouragement - 25 Feb
This event is at the Richmond Pool (Gleadell St) this Saturday. Entries have closed. Warm up is 6pm, meet starts at 6.30pm. A list of entries is attached. For many swimmers this may be your first meet. We all try and sit together so watch out for us as a group, looking all Northcote like. This will enable us to help with marshalling swimmers and making sure they get to talk with a coach before and after each race. We will also be required to provide some parent timekeepers. This is a pretty easy job and we can share it around. It is sometimes difficult to get enough parent timekeepers at this meet as the all kids are pretty young but the meet can't happen without this so please pitch in and help. Bring along cap and goggles (with spares if you have them), a couple of towels, water bottle and sensible snacks. I will be there on the night and will be happy to answer any questions you might have.

3. Metro North 11/O Encouragement - 3 March
I have attached a list of entries received so far. Entries need to be sent in to ntc.meet@gmail.com stating swimmer name and events to be swum, by 8pm this Wednesday 22 Feb. A flyer is attached with the details. Please note the restrictions applying to swimmers having finished in the top three at any district or state championships in the past year. The meet is at Richmond Pool, 6pm warm up, 6.30pm start.

And most importantly:

4. Northcote Club Championships - 18 March

This is our annual club championships and results at this meet determine our club champions to be awarded along with other club awards at our AGM and Presentation night 28 April. We really like to encourage all our members to swim at this meet. It is held at the Northcote pool and is a great club atmosphere. A flyer is attached. Entries to ntc.meet@gmail.com by 11 March, stating swimmer name and events to be entered. Much more detail (including recommended events for each age range) is available on the website:

Paul.

Club Championships - 2012

posted 20 Feb 2012 02:21 by ntc meets   [ updated 20 Feb 2012 02:57 ]

A flyer is attached, but here are even more details:

What are the Club Champs?

Each year NSLSC conducts its club championships. This is an opportunity for all club members to race in a more relaxed atmosphere than most meets. Club age champions are determined by the total number of points gained in selected sprint and distance events. Awards will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place getters for each age group at a presentation night, which will be 28 April 2012.

There are a number of categories:
· Age based for boys and girls
· New swimmers (who have been with the club less than one year)
· Most improved swimmer over the past year
· Individual medley

Events will be run as open events. This means swimmers will be placed into heats by entry time not by age. In general younger swimmers will have slower entry times than older swimmer’s entry times.

When and where is it?

Northcote Pool Victoria Rd, Northcote
Sunday 18th March at 8.00am for pool entry and warm-up. The meet starts at 9:00am
Put it in your diaries! Be punctual!

Who should enter?

All NSLSC swimmers are invited and encouraged to enter. We have well over a hundred swimmers – let’s see if everyone can come! New members are welcome to make this their first swim meet.

Swimmers who are registered as ‘non-competitors’ are still eligible. Have a go! Swim with your training mates. Parents may also compete!

How is age set?

For Club Championship purposes, the age of swimmers is set as at 30 April 2012, even though the meet is being run on the 18th March.

What does it cost?

We are not charging an entry fee. It's free!

What do the swimmers need?

  • NSLSC meet swim cap (or training cap) and racing goggles
  • Swim suit
  • NSLSC polo/t-shirt (if already have one)
  • 2 towels
  • Water bottle and sensible snacks.

I need a club cap and/or uniform

Please talk to Ruth Gilder (email ntc.swimming@gmail.com) if you need her to order club items for you. There will be some items for sale on the day.

Depending on entry numbers we may merge some distance events, i.e. a 100m backstroker may swim alongside a 100m butterflyer.

Swimmers aged 8 years or under?

All younger swimmers encouraged to swim both Free 50m and Back 50m. Talk to coaches about suitability for Breast or Fly 50m events, however no entry to distance events accepted.

Swimmers aged 9 – 10 years?

Swimmers encouraged to select at least 2 strokes, but consider swimming all four 50m events. You may enter up to two 100m events but check suitability with coaches.

Swimmers aged 11 years and over?

Swimmers encouraged to select at least 2 strokes, but consider swimming all four 50m events. You may enter a number of distance events but be selective. It is suggested no more than 3 distance events (including IM) per swimmer. Check suitability with coaches.

Simon has final say on swimmer eligibility for distance events.

Individual Medley Event

Swimmers (10/over) interested in an individual medley may choose to enter the 4 x 50m IM. You must have coach’s permission and Simon may set a minimum cap colour or entry time for this event. There is also a 4 x 100m IM and there is an award category for this event by itself. Once again, you must have your coach’s permission to enter this event. There is an award category for this event by itself.

What else is important?

We need a team of parent, grand-parent, big brother and sister helpers on the morning. Please volunteer to assist with any of the tasks you feel able to. The more assistants we have, the more we can rotate and have a break to watch our swimmers.

Key roles to be filled:
  • Marshals
  • Time-keeper coordinator
  • Time-keepers: minimum 24. Extras for rotation would be excellent
  • Results runners: post results as they are printed
Indicate your preferences when you email entries in.

Refreshments

The pool café will be open for refreshments. Please bring water, snacks etc. as required.

Championship Points

Points are allocated to swimmers based on their position in events relative to other swimmers in their age group, even though they may swim in different heats. These age based positions count towards championship points.

Points Guidelines

Swimmers aged 8 years/ under
Age championship points based on 50m Free and 50m Back events only
More than two 50m events may be swum with coach’s permission but will not accrue extra points

Nunawading Meet - 19 November 2011

posted 12 Oct 2011 03:33 by ntc meets

A quick update for those wanting to enter the Nunawading Meet 19 November. I am having trouble getting hold of an entry file from the Nunawading Club. Their preference is for swimmers to enter online. Rather than risk missing out on our entries with the meet filling up while I wait to try and sort this out, can I ask that all interested swimmers enter themselves online as soon as possible to avoid dissapointment. This applies even if you have already sent an email in to ntc.meet@gmail.com. I am unable to process these entries and you need to enter online.

1. You can enter online through the following web page:
https://www.clubsonline.com.au/swimregform/index.cfm?fuseaction=display_meet_summary&MeetID=10218&OrgID=2336

2. You will need your Swimming Victoria registration user name and password, and you can pay your entry fees by credit card on the site. There is a forgot password link. If after trying this you still cannot log in please let me know and I will try to assist.

3. Online entries close 8pm, Wed 9 November, but please don't leave it to the last minute - these meets are very popular. Do it as soon as possible.

4. Once you have completed your online registration please send an email to ntc.meet@gmail.com so that we know who is entered ahead of time.
